The temperature is expected to reach a top of 39 degrees in most parts of the Highlands.
However there will be some relief later in the day. According to the Bureau of Meteorology (BoM), a southerly change is expected to come through on Friday night or Saturday morning.
Depending on the time of the cool change, the temperature could be 21 degrees on Friday night.
There will also be a significant amount of humidity in the air on Friday.
Saturday is expected to be a cooler day than Friday, with a top of 28 degrees.
The temperature is expected to drop down to 14 degrees on Saturday night.
Sunday is expected to be partly cloudy with a maximum temperature of 23 degrees.
There is a 50 per cent chance of showers later in the day and light winds throughout the day.
Meanwhile Endeavour Energy crews are on standby to respond to any problems that might occur during the hot weather, to minimise the time customers are without power.
To beat the heat on Friday, Endeavour Energy has reminded customers to keep well hydrated, keep an eye on elderly neighbours and keep mobiles charged in case power is interrupted.
Highlanders with registered medical equipment in their homes should also review their back-up plan.
Residents can take some simple steps to stay cool by:
- Keeping shutters, curtains or blinds closed to keep out the heat
- Cleaning the filters on air conditioners so they work efficiently
- Setting air conditioners to a comfortable 23 to 26 degrees; every degree cooler adds more to cooling costs
- Using fans to circulate cool air within homes.
