In previous years the Highlands has experienced some break-ins to homes over Christmas by people police suspect are acting as tradespeople.
Thieves know there are valuable gifts in many homes at this time, and this makes homes a target.
Police have already had people act as tradespeople, entering residents’ yards under the guise of quoting for garden or tree work, and offering to repair damaged driveways for a cheap price.
Police have asked Highlanders to be wary of ‘cold’ contacts from workman they have not requested, especially if they see them wandering around their property or a neighbour’s property.
If you are suspicious, get a registration number of any cars or a photo on your mobile phone then contact Moss Vale Police Station on 4869 7899.
