The Bombers took on the Mavericks in round 10 of Macarthur Baseball League’s Lee Richardson Cup division two competition.
Matches involving the Bombers and Mavericks since SSBC came into being have always been close and competitive, with the Stars taking a lucky one-run win last time the two sides met.
This latest instalment started no differently, with both teams going blow for blow with the bat.
The Bombers had the edge in the field, however, and this proved the difference as the Mets were only able to take a single out all night in this 'restricted scoring' form of the game.
This was easily the Bombers' best effort of the season, resulting in the side's second win on the diamond (and third overall).
For the first time in a while, the Bombers were in hitting form with big double-base hits to Guy Farrugia (two), Kurt Farrugia, Andrew Glassington and coach Scott McKelvey.
Paul Jackson also came up with a cheeky bunt which scored two runs.

The strong winds and blinding afternoon sun made for difficult playing conditions but that didn’t stop a beautiful 'double play' for the Stars involving a catch by Jackson at short stop, followed with a throw to and tag by Scott Hogan on first base.
Steve Pettit also made a great out from third base off another fine throw to Hogan.
The Bombers turned in a six and two five-run innings off the back of confident running between the bases.
Extras were picked up by the speedy Farrugia brothers.
Mat Shaw applied pressure as needed, and Hogan fought injury all the way to ensure he made it each time.
Glassington again pitched an entire game, closing it out for the Bombers with three strikeouts.
The Saturday division two game between the Southern Stars Shelbys and Mets Marauders was deferred earlier last week to the last round of the season.
