Open to everyone, the Robertson Men’s Shed Inc. (RMSI) will be holding the last meeting of year on November 13 from 10am to 3.
This will take place at the Robertson CTC 58-60 Hoddle Street, Robertson, which is in the main street opposite Robertson Farm Machinery.
There will be coffee, refreshments and morning tea available from the CTC café at very reasonable prices. Then midday the RMSI will welcome a special guest lecture and demonstration by renowned lead light stained-glass artist Kevin Little.
Kevin is a well-known lead light stained glass artist whose work can be seen in many grand buildings. Following the presentation by the Men’s Shed will hold a barbecue lunch with sausage sandwiches available for $3.00.
Kevin at 88, has decades of experience with stained glass and the RMSI will be displaying some examples of his work while he shows some of his stained-glass making tools. There will be a gold coin donation for this stained-glass show.
Kevin moved to Robertson after closing his business in Arncliffe, Lead Lights and Stained-Glass Studio which had run for 100 years. The studio was run by three generations of the Little family since it began in 1905. Kevin ran the studio from 1972.
At the height of its success, the business employed many of artists with work produced for Sydney Town Hall, Sydney Hospital and St Mary’s Cathedral.
Kevin has worked with stained glass from boyhood. Constructing a lead light stained-glass piece is begun by sketching the concept to scale and then making a full-sized drawing, then each individual piece of glass is cut before being assembled. Kevin now works in his studio in Robertson.
RMSI meetings for next year will be at the CTC from 10am to 3pm on the second Tuesday of each month starting on February 12, 2019.
