The game has been popular in the Southern Highlands for some time, with the 40th anniversary of the club approaching.
It has had one of the largest junior competitions in non-metropolitan NSW for many years.
Development Programs Officer from Water Polo NSW Danielle Smith, is overseeing the support.
“Our aim is to up skill water polo in the Southern Highlands. It is great to see water polo thrive in country towns,” she enthused.
Lachlan Davis and Michaela Davies from Water Polo NSW, will put in five weeks support, with both the seniors and juniors, to mentor and support local referees and coaches.
Stephanie Evans has secured an internship, which will run the whole season, supported by the Southern Highlands club and Water Polo NSW.

She will balance the administration and running of the competition for seniors on Mondays and juniors on a Tuesday, with her studies as a student at Wollongong University.
Evans is studying Human Resource Management in her Bachelor of Commerce Degree and also worked as a medical receptionist in a busy practice before going to university.
Her role will include managing competitions with players ranging in age from 10 through to 65, dealing with managers, coaches and local club officials and NSW Waterpolo.
“I’m really happy to be here, to learn something new. I really like being part of a small community and I’ve been made to feel at home. I come from a small town background and I’m really enjoying doing this,” she said.
Highlander Lachlan Freary has also put his hand up to assist in a voluntary capacity and the competitions have begun smoothly.
Two more teams have entered B grade and more than 260 players have registered so far.
This week’s results:
In B grade Polar Bears B continued with another win, this time over Mariners 3-0.
Horton's Heroes had a good 8-3 win over Oxley Gold in Gold’s first game in B grade. The Dolphins had to work hard for a 9-5 win, over Oxley Blue. In A grade Polar Bears A, had the narrowest of wins 6-5 over Dolphins.
The match was even throughout with the scores level for much of the game.
The result could have gone either way with both teams missing some scoring opportunities. Sharks A had a solid 6-2 win over Mariners A.
A pleasing feature of the competition thus far has been the closeness of all the games. New players of all abilities are still welcome.
