The events will be held on Saturday, October 20
“The great thing about this weekend is that there is an event for every member of the community,” Battle for Berrima President Michael Verberkt said.
“We know how concerned the Wingecarribee Community is about the impacts of past, present and future coal mining on the Highlands, our precious wildlife such as the Platypus and also the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment.

“This weekend enables everyone to play a part and show how much we care about clean air, clean water and protecting our environment from coal mining.”
The weekend of special events will feature:
- Early morning Platypus Watching Walk at Berrima. Starting 5.30am and suggested donation $10 per person
- Pedal for the Platypus cycle to the Hume Coal Mine site, Medway Colliery and Wingecarribee River. Starting 10.30am from Berrima Market Place. Suggested $5 donation per child, $10 per adult and $20 per family
- Community barbecue in the heart of historic Berrima from 1pm and suggested donation $5
- Community Town Hall with local MPs and Candidates to examine coal mining within the Sydney Drinking Water Catchment from and Free
- Fundraising dinner and Art Auction at The Stone Room- $150 per person
