Held on the Gold Coast the two-day contest drew together the fittest and strongest crossfitters over 35 in Australia, with 480 athletes qualifying from two rounds of eliminations over recent weeks.
The trio – from Benton Crossfit Gym in Braemar – all returned with top 10 finishes.
Andrew Mevissen, 54, finished first in his age and ability category, while Leah Bow, 52 finished second, and Lesley Ross, 54, finished in sixth place.
Workouts the three tackled included strongman skills, deadlifts, sled pulls, pull-ups, step ups, leg raises, farmer carries, burpees, lunges and barbell work.

“The workouts were tough but I gave them everything I had and I’m stoked at finishing a close second. It was also very rewarding to attend an event designed for more mature CrossFitters,” Mevissen said.
“The warm camaraderie and friendly spirit at the Games was palpable, making the results not such a major focus. More and more people over 40 are doing CrossFit to stay fit and strong so I‘d encourage others to give it a go. It’s an awesome way to stay healthy and the supportive community at a CrossFit gym makes it even more rewarding.”
