Since 1887, the Southern Highlands community has joined in the spirit of country picnic racing at the Bong Bong Picnic Races and it’s shaping up to be another successful race day with marquee’s sold out and the boot picnic area filling up quickly.
The racing line up is set to once again draw the top riders and horses from across the NSW Picnic Racing circuit and the prize pool has increased to $57,000; making Bong Bong one of the leading picnic race events in the state.
Trainers and owners can also compete for a share in the $50,000 prize pool offered in the NSW Picnic Racing Championship.
This year's theme is: Celebrating our Farmers, acknowledges the vital role primary producers play in the community and in the history of our nation.
The club would like to hear from any local farmers who would like to attend race day and will be providing a hospitality area for farmers to have a day out at the races.

The event is open to club members and their invited guests and with race day fast approaching, the club would like to remind the community to renew their membership and organise race day entry passes.
For a limited time past members can reinstate their membership with no application fee until October 19.
Volunteers at the Bong Bong Picnic Race Club have been busy improving the facility with over $80,000 spent on improvements over the past 12 months including: track drainage works, new hillside toilet facilities, a new commercial kitchen and a clubhouse chair lift to access the pavilion.
The improvements are designed to provide better facilities for community groups and organisations to use the facility.
