There were a few disappointments during Saturday but with 10 out of the 17 teams victorious there were certainly a lot of smiling faces on Saturday evening.
In hockey, Chevalier teams travelled to Moorebank for their deciders.
The Firsts were taking on Central Coast who Chev had drawn against in the majority of recent encounters, including the previous year’s final.
This was the Chev hockey girls time to shine and they took the lead close to half time with a goal from Lauren Balla.
A dominant second half saw further goals scored by Tessa Good and April Hamilton to finish well on top.
The boys and girls football at Blacktown.
There was success for the boys, but disappointment for the girls in very close matches.
The girls Junior B team made up entirely of Year 7 girls went down to a very early Central Coast goal.
The Firsts Girls dominated play against St Pauls but could not find the back of the net to finish up at 0-0 after extra time.
Penalties decided the winner and despite well taken spot kicks from Lilli Clark, Charlotte and Georgia Hampshire, the St Pauls Girls managed to score one more and take the title.
For the boys the 15s took on Central Coast and hit the lead with a goal from Christian Giuliano.
Central Coast equalised and again the game appeared destined for extra time.
But Austin Cribbin-Blencowe with virtually the last kick of the game scored to send teammates and supporters wild.
The Seconds have been in great form recently and were worthy 3-1 victors against St Pauls.
Goals from Rob McLeod and Jacob Stirling (two) did the job in a great team effort.
Down at Homebush Chevalier had seven netball teams in action.
The Junior B and C teams won well, but the Junior A and (D) Blue not so lucky.
The Junior B Girls beat the previously undefeated Redlands and the Inter B girls defeated Barker.
The Seconds and Thirds girls both took on Oakhill and came home winners.
The Seconds had not beaten Oakhill during the season proper but did so when it counted
Madi Roodbeen was great in the centre court and Teagan Mattick and Lilli Wilson were strong in defence.
The Thirds girls finished off a superb season as they have played each week with a very limited squad.
And further across Sydney at Oakhill a big crowd gathered for the rugby finals with Chev teams participating in every age group.
The 13s started the day on a bright note with a big win over Central Coast.
The Central Coast boys gained revenge in the 14s game but not until extra time was required.
In the 15s Redfield got the better of Chevalier.
The Chev 16s came up against a very well drilled Redfield team.
And finally the Chev’ Firsts finished of the day in grand style.
A tight half time scoreline of 12-5 caused concern but the squad’s fitness and resolve helped the Chev’ Boys get home in the second half.
Luke Lindsay was once again one of Chev’s best and Callum Peattie was voted player of the match.
Brother Gerry was a standout performer in the days presentations.
