Playing at Moss Vale, the Highlanders won 32-22 and have cemented their spot in the qualification final this weekend.
Bundanoon coach Chris Conquest said the side’s attack was good against the Roosters but “our defence let us down a little bit”.
Heading into the finals, he said it was important to get the win and keep the team’s momentum going.
They will now face City Kangaroos at Mittagong on Sunday morning.
“I think against this particular opposition we need to get out long kicking game right and chasing. They’ve got some big forwards so we [need to try] kick the ball in behind them and make them turn to get the ball and tire them out that way,” Conquest said.
After winning the second division premiership in 2017, he said the team was keen to go back to back.
But with a few tough matches ahead, Conquest said they would need to focus on each match as it comes.
With kick off at 9.45am on Sunday morning, the Highlanders will e hoping for a big home crowd.
Some of the Group 6 senior finals will be played at Appin Park over the weekend and Conquest said Bundanoon was glad to play its match in the Highlands.
“It’s much closer and we’ll have more support. I think it’ll benefit us,” he said.
Warragamba Wombats finished minor premiers in the Group 6 second division competition and will have this weekend off.
