They provide positive and enjoyable social groups which affirm the dignity and value of each individual.
This local, not-for-profit service provides social opportunities within a group setting for frail, aged people and people with dementia.
The service is available to those who are living in the community – either in their own home or with a carer.
At all groups they encourage independence, fun and friendship. They provide a range of activities such as music; brain games and quizzes; theme days and light exercise.

Some programs are suitable for all, while others are dementia-specific.
The centres operate between 9am and 4pm. Clients are usually picked up from their home between 9:30am and 10:30am and dropped back between 2:30pm and 3:30pm.
The dementia-specific programs are designed to focus on retaining skills and abilities and to provide care in a setting that is caring and dignified.
Generally, social groups are suitable for people over 65 who are frail, aged and/or have a disability and live in the community.
Your requirements are discussed with you over the telephone and then you are invited to attend a free morning tea with an appropriate social group. If required you will be assisted with referral through the My Aged Care system
Attendees receive a goal support plan. They will offer a range of services to best meet your needs. With your agreement, they develop an individual, goal- support plan which sets out what services you will receive and when. These are reviewed from time to time and your input is welcomed.
Morning tea and a hot two-course lunch is provided.
Meals are nutritious, appetising and suitable for most tastes. Special dietary needs such as diabetes and allergies are outlined at the assessment, or as soon as they arise.
Where possible, transport is provided to and from the groups. Small, wheelchair accessible buses with well-trained and helpful staff are on hand to ensure your comfort and safety.
The cost of the day is $10.00 and is payable each time you attend. This includes transport and lunch. Special arrangements can be made should this payment present any difficulties for you. They do not turn anyone away on financial grounds. If you would like assistance or further information please ring the Bowral office of the Wingecarribee Adult Day Care centre at 4862 1774.
