Students and teachers collected about 200 blankets in a school-wide drive, and presented them to the St Vincent de Paul Society on Sacred Heart Day on Friday, June 29.
The blankets will be distributed to people in need, mostly throughout the Southern Highlands.
St Vincent de Paul Society president John Bulters said there was a strong need for blankets in the community.
“We seem to get rid of them quickly. There’s a strong need for blankets,” Mr Bulters said.
“We try to provide people with what is a basic need.”
Mr Bulters said members of the society appreciated the support of Chevalier College and from the wider community.
“I’m awed by the generosity of Chevalier College. There’s also a lot of support from the community,” Mr Bulters said.
School captains Will Jamison and Hannah Rewais said it was important to support people in the community.
“Chevalier College gets behind a lot of charities. We see a connection with Vinnies as important. It’s about having compassion for other people,” Will said.
“It’s amazing how far a little bit of money goes and how it can be spread around,” Hannah said.
