Nominations for the awards have closed and counting is under way to determine this year’s finalists.
Precedent Productions managing director and awards founder Steve Loe said Southern Highlands residents had taken particular advantage of the opportunity to lodge nominations via the awards’ website.
“Online nominations have become popular this year with more customers selecting this method, rather than posting a printed coupon,” he said. “This year, more people than ever took the opportunity to nominate their favourite businesses online.
“Coupled with the printed coupons, we were inundated with thousands of nominations. The Southern Highlands community is close-knit and parochial in the very best sense of the word as they support each other and celebrate everyone’s achievements.
“That’s just one of the many reasons why so many people choose to live, work and operate businesses in the area.”
The Precedent Productions team have already started to review the nominations, find the most popular nominees in each business category and notify those who are chosen as finalists.
The awards’ anonymous judges will then visit each finalist to assess their services from a customer’s point of view.
Judging criteria include: range of products, value for money, business and staff appearance, service quality and customer relations. Finalists also get a chance to promote themselves to the judges by submitting information that an anonymous visitor may not see, such as customer testimonials and references.
None of this would be possible without the support of this year’s major sponsors: NOVA Employment and support sponsors: Wingecarribee Shire Council, Boral Cement Berrima and Flower Flower. It is only with their unwavering assistance that the program is able to recognise and award the high achievers of local business.
The outstanding local businesses will be announced at the Southern Highlands Local Business Awards presentation evening on August 8. The presentation is a well-deserved time in the spotlight for outstanding local businesses. The event will be held at Mittagong RSL Club, and will be a great networking opportunity for all businesses, sponsors and dignitaries involved.
