The under-16 girls league tag team got back into the winners circle last Saturday against the Mt Annan Knights, with a solid 24-14.
The girls have begun to put some good plays together, and are starting to really develop their attack.
Some great defence frustrated the opposition and allowed the Bowral girls to control most of the game.
Tiahna Edwards, Zoe Mckay, Hannah Gage-Simpson, Liz Keo and Brianna Sawtell all scored tries for Bowral.
Standouts on the day included Annalise Layton, Grace Nimac and Jess Orchard.
The under-12s took on Appin at Bargo in a rematch of last year’s elimination semi-final.
Both teams were desperate to hold onto a top four position.
Appin started strong, and lead 10-0 early in the first half. Bowral hit back with try’s to Archie and Charlie Cooper, and went into the break 10-8 behind.
The second half saw the Bowral team lift, and their structured attack and solid defence resulted in another three unanswered tries to Archie following some great lead up work from the forward pack which allowed plenty of room for the backs to fire.
Notably Elijah and Esra were again dominant in attack and defence, Patrick McIntosh had safe hands and was eager to get in and help the forwards and Victor was brilliant at fullback making some great last minute tackles to prevent certain tries.
The best on ground for Bowral was Archie ‘Jimmy the Jet’ Thomas, but all of the team played well.
Special mention to Ollie Johns and Zayne Ismail who came straight off a full game in the 11s and ran straight back on for the 12’s.
In other results for competition teams the Bowral Kookaburra under-11s again had another solid 36-0 win over Bargo.
The Bowral under-13s had a narrow 14-10 loss against Narrellan.
The under-6, under-7 and under-8’s played off against Bargo in the Friendship Shield.
The games were fantastic with Bargo providing a splendid atmosphere for all involved.
Bowral Blues senior division two team will be back out on the paddock this weekend when they take on Thirlmere Roosters.
The Blues currently sit in third place on the competition ladder and a win this week would help them consolidate their position in the top four.
The team has had a couple of weeks off and is keen to get back out onto the field.
It’s been a great return by the Bowral Blues this year, with a mix of young and older players.
They have provided a really positive atmosphere, with good solid performances on the field and great family values off the field.
The Bowral Kookaburras can still accept registrations right up until July 30, and encourage any interested family’s to come along and join a fun family club.
