Councillor Graham McLaughlin has submitted a Notice of Motion that this year’s election of the mayor and deputy mayor not be held as an Extraordinary Meeting of Council on September 19.

Instead he is seeking support that it be done before the September 26 Ordinary Meeting of Council.
Boarding House proposal
Councillors will consider a development application at the May 23 meeting which seeks approval to convert an existing property into a six-room boarding house in Leopold Street, Mittagong. A staff report recommends approval of the development. Amended plans were received earlier this year to better complement the Mittagong Heritage Area.
Asbestos policy
An updated Asbestos Management Policy will be presented to councillors for adoption at the next meeting. After a review, some minor updates and changes were made to the policy.
Fees for mayor and councillors
Councillors will determine the fees payable to the mayor and councillors rom July 1, 2018 through to June 30, 2019 at the May 23 meeting. They are required to determine these fees under the Local Government Act.
Urban Tree Policy
A report will be presented to councillors at the May 23 meeting following the exhibition of the Urban Tree Policy. A total of 20 submissions were received during the exhibition period. Issues raised included concerns regarding council development activities, tree management works of council, the environment and climate change.
Post exhibition reports
Reports will be presented to councillors on council’s Draft Procurement Policy and Draft Backflow Prevention policy.
The procurement policy received one submission while no submissions were received on the backflow prevention policy during the exhibition period.
