The Dragons now sit in third spot after a 32-4 loss to ladder leaders Camden Rams.
Following a slow start from the Dragons in which line speed was an issue, coach Matt Burke said there were no positives he could take from the game.
“There were a couple of guys who dug deep when we were short on numbers and their efforts were commendable,” he said.
“Overall as a team performance it was a bit lack lustre.”
Cam Marmont scored Moss Vale’s only try early in the second half.
At that stage the Dragons could have staged a comeback but it was not to be.
Now with a week off, Burke said the team had learned some good lessons the hard way and would need to get back to its early season form before taking on Narellan in two weeks time.
“We really need to concentrate on completing our sets and holding the ball for durations and building some pressure on opposition teams.
“Some blokes didn’t turn up to play footy today. It happens- we’ve just got to put it down to experience and get better from it.”
The under-18s remains a close competition with three teams sitting on eight competition points (Camden, Mt Annan/Oakdale and Moss Vale), followed by two teams on six points (Thirlemere and Campbelltown City).
“It’s a pretty tough and tight competition the 18s. You’ve really got to be turning up every week to be playing footy, otherwise you’re going to get shown up,” Burke said.
It was a good day for the first grade side that fought out an 18-18 draw with Camden Rams..
This puts the Dragons in seventh spot on the ladder.
The Ladies League Tag team did not however enjoy the same success.
Moss Vale went down to Camden 54-0 and sit 10th on the ladder.
They are yet to find a win this season from their five games.
The Dragons will travel up to Narellan Sportsground on May 19 to take on the Jets.
Under-18s will kick off at 4pm and first grade will start from 7.30pm.
