Many links exist between the four painters in the exhibition, ‘Connections’ – Gillian Hook, Carol Scott, Roberta Wiseman and Patricia Johnson.
Three of the artists were friends and painters who lived in the Hunter Valley for many years and exhibited throughout northern New South Wales.
All four artists share a passion for watercolour, a joy of the rural Australian landscape, and have studied in Australia and overseas, particularly Italy and France.
These experiences had provided the inspiration for some of the paintings in the exhibition.
Artist Gillian Hook said the three mediums these artists have worked with will provide a great variety.
“Watercolours provide a freshness, oils provide a richness and beautiful lust, and acrylics are quick, fast work,” Hook said.
“The visitor interest will be in the different styles and comparing the difference in watercolour techniques and how we tackle subject matters.”
Ron Stannard FRAS AWI FASMA will open the exhibition at 11am on May 5 at the Bowral Art Gallery, 1 Short Street, Bowral.
A light lunch will be provided in the sculpture garden.
