The Bowral Blues and Kookaburras were back in action on the weekend.
The Bowral Kookaburras had a 16-18 loss to Bundanoon in what was a close game. During the game Bowral’s Mark Williams was strong in the middle of the ruck, and Cameron Arlington worked well in a dual pivot and running role.
Meanwhile Bowral’s Robbie Purcell was strong in defence, particularly in the first half of the game.
There was a large and vocal crowd at the grounds, with many old Bowral Blues faces in attendance. Meanwhile in the junior competition, Bowral Kookaburras U/11B defeated Narellan Blue 30-18. Tries were scored by Zane Cassidy, Max Abela, Zayne Ismail, Brayden McGarry and Jacob Smith.
Bowral Kookaburras U/12B defeated Narellan Blue 12-8, with two tries to Archie Thomas and one to Tommy Philp. Bowral Kookaburras U/13A were defeated by Camden Rams by 20-12, with a try each to Lachlan Goodwin and Christian Gallina, with Christian also kicking two goals.
Camden were a very strong outfit and the Bowral team did very well in this match. Bowral Kookaburras U/16 Girls League Tag were defeated by Narellan.
The girls league team game was a very good one for new players Isabella Mazzeo, Hannah Gage Simpson and Elizabeth Keo.
The team started very well and competed for majority of the first half before the more experienced Narellan girls took over. Bowral Kookaburras president Peter Howard said the day was well-supported by volunteers. “The volunteers had a great deal to do with the success of the day,” Howard said. “They’re the unsung heroes of any sporting group. For example, Ian Ford worked on the barbecue all day [from 7.30am to 4pm]. It’s the little things that make a club great.”
