Council currently pays the EPA a metropolitan rate for the waste levy.
It wrote to several people and agencies last year asking for a reclassification of the shire to a regional area.
For 2017-18 the metropolitan levy is $138.20 per tonne and the regional levy is $79.60 per tonne.
At the March 28 meeting, Councillor Garry Turland submitted a Question with Notice as to whether any of the six ministers contacted previously in regards to this issue had responded.
He has been vocal in his criticism of council’s classification as a metropolitan area.
Of the shire’s neighbouring councils, Wollondilly is charged a regional rate while Goulburn does not pay a waste levy.
Council wrote to EPA executive director for waste and resource recovery Sarah Gardner, Minister for Environment and Heritage Gabrielle Upton, Shadow Minister for Heritage and Environment Penny Sharpe, Opposition Leader Luke Foley, Member for Goulburn Pru Goward and Member for Wollondilly Jai Rowell.
“We’ve not had one response from all those people,” Cr Turland said.
“I find that offensive, I find that hypocritical of them. I want to make sure that these six people on this list at least have the decency to respond to us.”
Councillors agreed to re-issue the letter and request a response.
If no response is received, council will make a public comment, highlighting the financial burden to the shire since the implementation of the charges.
