“I began gymnastics when I was baby at my parent’s gym club in Sydney,” Rizzo said.
“At the age of 14, from my parent’s coaching, l gained a Scholarship at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
“l represented Australia at seven World Championships, three Commonwealth Games and l am a dual Olympian, competing in Sydney 2000 and Athens 2004.
“My Commonwealth Games medals include three gold, three silver and three bronze.
“I was Australia’s first gymnast to win a medal at a world championship event, winning silver in 2001.
“In 2006 I was the first Australian to win a world championship title.”
The Berrima District Sports Awards will be held at Mittagong RSL Club on Friday, February 16.
