Starting at 10am, the event will feature a ‘gospel service’ with music played by Sydney group the Bob Henderson Band, featuring vocals from Joy Yates.
From 11:30am until 1pm the James Harris Quartet will perform a set described as a “modern take on traditional jazz standards”.
Bob’s band will return at 2:30pm to play “hot, cool, swingin’ traditional and mainstream jazz”.
Bob Henderson said that his band, which have been playing together for more than 30 years, play old jazz tunes in a modern style.
“It’s certainly jazz, but were not governed by a particular style,” he said.
“Jazz has been evolving for so long now.
“We keep on reaching back into the olden days of jazz to play those tunes… but we aren’t playing it how it was played in the ‘20s.
“We’re reinventing it, in a way.”
Tickets are available on the door for $35-40, and boxed lunches can be pre-ordered for $15.
