The competition was held in the Snowy Mountains on March 18 and 19 under warm, 28 degree conditions.
The championships, now in it’s 20th year, provided a thrilling line up of racing, competition and fun for school-age mountain bike riders.
Chevalier took a total of 43 riders to the event, who all achieved outstanding results.
The entire team came away with an impressive list of accolades, including two individual Australian XC titles, one Australian Flow-Trail Championship, four individual second placesand two Australian Teams titles.
Cameron Butcher from Year 11 was crowned the Australian Senior Boys’ Champion, following in the footsteps of previous Chevalier Australian School Boys’ Champions Rob Kell in 2011 and Bryce Clarke in 2013.
Seren Johnson from Year 10 fought hard and won the Australian Intermediate Girls’ Champion.
Jonathan Fudge won the Australian Flow-Trail Champion title.
Jonathon rode with mighty effort in the Downhill Championship and missed out on winning by three-thousandths of a second.
Luke Skelly from Year 7 put on a strong display of skills and placed second in the Australian Junior Boys’ Championship.
The intermediate girls team proved that they were the strongest and gained first, second, third and fourth placings before winning the Intermediate Girls’ Team title
The team was made up by Seren Johnson, Phoebe Clarke, Courtney Knight and Holly Boyle.
Chevalier continued to show that they were the school to beat, and took home the Junior Boys’ Team title.
Team members, Brinley Adams, Rowan Ashworth, Hamish Cochrane, Jayden Day, Cooper Doyle, Jakob Economos, Hugo Fay, Nathan Gray, Jack Harris, Liam Hatton, Harrison Johnston, Jack McCallum, Luka Nimac, Patrick Nyholm, Harry Pinczi, Anatole Rheinberger, Patrick Ryan, Xavier Sedger, Luke Skelly, Lucas Temporali, Jye Van Grootel, all rode at their best to add to the school’s long list of achievements.
The senior boys also placed in the Senior Boys’ Team Championship.
Cameron Butcher, Jaxon Boyle, Angus Gripper, Oscar Prien and Josh McCue made up the team and worked well together to produce a pleasing results.
Teachers and staff thanked everyone involved for Chevalier’s success, including the competitors, the winners, the placers and the staff and supportive families.
