The heritage building was bought by Kish Kondapalli, who went about the task of restoring the shop to its former glory.
“It took my friends, family and myself about two months to clean it up and put everything together,” he said.
“We removed the old carpet, and bought timber from the recycling yard to keep the heritage feel of the building.”
The store has previously been a butcher’s shop, sold arts and crafts, and a Scottish shop, before it became dormant about five years ago.
Mr Kondapalli, who has moved to Bowral from Sydney, said he planned to support locals in his store.
“Alongside the takeaway coffee and food, I want to sell local art, jams and produce,” he said.
The store is located on the corner of Illawarra Highway and Exeter Road, Sutton Forest.
