10.20pm: Alicia Coutts wrapped up the night thanking everyone involved and congratulating the nominees and winners.
10.13pm: BDSA committee member Wendy Howard has encouraged people to become a part of the committee and nominate and thanked all guests for their attendance.
10.10pm: Wingecarribee Mayor Ken Halstead made a special presentation to Alicia Coutts.
10.05pm: The Senior Sportsperson of the Year went to Lauren Cheatle.
The award was accepted by Chevalier College’s Matt Bourke
“She has done an enormous amount for Chevalier cricket,” he said.
“She was captain of what is normally a boys team and the only girl in the competition. She revelled in humiliating the boys. She is an amazing representative for the school, the area and the country.”
10.00pm: The Junior Sportsperson of the Year was awarded to Phoebe Johnson.
“Congratulations to all other nominees,” she said.
“Thanks to mum and dad and my step-mum Michelle for getting me here and all my coaches who helped me along the way.”
9.45pm: The junior and senior monthly award winners have been presented on stage with a short summary of their achievements.
9.41pm: Grahame Benson was named Club Person of the Year. He was nominated by the Southern Highlands Archery Club. He has had many different roles in the club and is always ready to offer advice to all members of the club.
Grahame was instrumental in helping local Girl Guides set up an archery program. He has opened his own archery range at his property in Marulan.
He was not present at the event to accept his award.
9.40pm: Nominees for the Alec MacLean Club person of the year are:

- Grahame Benson
- Pam Barker
- This award recognises the hard work and dedication of the behind the scenes individuals who help everything to run smoothly at their chosen sporting club.
9.35pm: The Senior Team of the Year was won by Bowral Golf Club CSGA Bronze Shield team.
The team won the bronze shield final against Fairburn at Moss Vale Golf Club four matches to one. Bowral last won the shield in 1934.
9.33pm: Member for Goulburn congratulated all winners and nominees on the night.
“These awards have gone on for so long. They’re about all sports what they really celebrate is sportsmanship,” she said.
“If you never give up you’re always in with a chance.”
9.30pm: Olympian Coutts shared her story of success with the guests at the BDSA awards.

7.50pm: The under-15 girls division 2 Indoor Hockey team was named the representative team of the year.
7.45pm: Bowral Junior Rugby League under-11B won the Junior Team of the Year.
This team was the Group 6 undefeated premiers. This was the first time in more than 40 years that Bowral junior team progressed undefeated through the season and were premiers undefeated. The majority of players have been together for a few years. The team has two girls. Bowral defeated Camden Blue in the major semi-final 12-10. In the grand final they faced Camden Blue and won 20-12. Christian Gallina was named player of the grand final. The Kookaburras scored 440 points in the season and had only 82 points scored agaist them.
7.40pm: The School Team of the Year was won by Chevalier College Division 2 Girls Mountain Bike Team.
The team of five, competed at the Australian Interschool Championships at Thredbo in March. Sections of the course were rocky, steep and technical. In the overall category Chevalier girls team was crowned the Australian Interschool, Mountain Bike champions.
7.35pm: The junior achievers for 2016 have been announced:

- Monty Goulder (Athletics and Swimming)
- Hilary Swan (Cricket)
- Christian Gallina (Rugby League)
- Maizy Evans (Mountain Bike Riding)
- Willoughby Watson (Cricket)
7.30pm: A special tribute has been made to Graeme Spackman.
7.20pm: A special tribute has been made to Brian Corney.
7.18pm: Brian Corney and Graeme Spackman were both remembered by committee member Wendy Howard.
2016 Olympian Sue Hearn is attending the event to celebrate the Highland’s sporting talent and was also a senior monthly winner.
7.15pm: The official awards presentation has started. Monthly nominations are made by both the public and the committee. The committee then reads through each nomination carefully and votes on them to determine a winner for the junior and senior winner of the month.
At the end of the year the committee call for annual resumes outlining both team and individual achievements to determine the biggest prize of them all, the yearly winners.
6.30pm: Guests and nominees have started to arrive for the 2017 Berrima District Sports Awards evening.
Everyone will be looking forward to hearing Olympic swimmer Alicia Coutts speak at the event.
6.00pm: The Highlands best sportspeople will be recognised at The Berrima Districts Sports Awards at Mittagong RSL on Friday, February 24.
The night will celebrate the successes of those in the sporting circles of the Southern Highlands.
Winners will be announced for the following categories:
- Senior Sportsperson of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Club Person of the Year
- Junior Team of the Year
- Senior Team of the Year
- School Team of the Year
- Representative Team of the Year
