One of the great joys of working at council is the sheer diversity of community programs we co-ordinate and manage.

March is an especially busy month for us and our shire as we celebrate both our great range of citizens – our seniors and our youth.
Activities for our seniors kick off on Friday, March 3 when council joins with several local community providers to host this year’s annual Seniors Festival.
Such is the popularity of the festival that it has now grown to a full 10 days of celebrations.
Across our shire, more than 20 events have been organised.
These include movie screenings, a positive ageing forum, numerous musical shows and concerts and the ever-popular Mystery Bus tour.
Bookings opened last week and many of the events are booking fast!
For the full program of events, including dates, times, contacts and booking details visit www.wsc.nsw.gov.au/seniors-festival- 2017 or contact council’s ageing and disability officer on phone 4868 0801.
This year’s Seniors Festival will run from Friday 3 March right through until Sunday 12 March.
But hurry, numbers are filling fast!
Straight after our Seniors Festival and with barely a chance to catch our breath, we launch head-first into our local Youth Week program.
This year National Youth Week will be held from March 31 through until April 9 with hundreds of events and activities planned right across the country for 12 to 24 year olds.
This year’s theme is ‘Get involved, be heard, make a difference.’
We’ve decided to ask our shire’s youth what events they’d like to take part in as part of the celebrations.
If you’re a young person, or perhaps have a youth-aged family member in the house, with ideas of what activities they’d like to see featured as part of our local program, contact council’s youth liaison officer on 4868 0859.
Stay tuned to council’s corporate website at www.wsc.nsw.gov.au where a full program of local youth events will be published in the lead up to the celebrations.
