Creative and Co creative director Michaela Bolzan has embarked on a new venture to give everyone the chance to learn the creative processes behind some of the best minds in their industries.
“Everyone I have spoken with are very professional and passionate about what they doing, and I wanted to give insight into how they work,” she said.
Michaela has been interviewing international and Australian creative professionals for the past year, and started writing up the interviews for readers to view online.
She records her interviews, then has them edited in Bowral to become 60-minute podcasts. These have been licensed for in-flight entertainment on airlines.
However, she decided to type up the transcripts of the interviews and add further insights to be available for free online.
“I’ve found everyone I have spoken to has been so generous in wanting to discuss their creative processes, that I wanted to pass on that generosity of spirit,” she said.
“You can dip in and dip out of each story, and just enjoy reading about some really amazing people.”
Michaela has already spoken with chefs, actors, fashion designers and authors, and plans to release two stories a month.
She said when talking to each person, she found the same characteristic coming through which helped drive their success.
“They have this ability to remian open and absorb new thoughts and ideas, and experience new things due to keeping their eyes and minds open.
“They can turn the corner on a route they take every day and see something normal in a different way – it’s these new thoughts and feelings that seem to make an exceptionally creative person.”
Michaela is now preparing to fly to Hong Hong, where she will speak with Alexander Wang, who was recently awarded the World’s Best Interior Design title at the International Property Awards.
Online users can already read about her interviews with chef Massimo Bottura, actor Marco Qualiga, fashion designer and hotelier Princess Giulia Panichi Pignatelli, fashion designer Kevan Hall, jewellery designer Gillian Dowland and costume designer Gabriella Loria.
Michaela said she hoped everyone would enjoy discovering what inspired these successful practitioners, how they encouraged their creative juices to flow, and how they saw the world.
The stories and transcripts can be read online, with a cup of tea or glass of wine, at http://creativeandco.com/.
