A number of children age 5 to 17 from Bowral Little Athletics have qualified for for the Regional Championships which will be held on February 11 and 12 in Wagga.
Athletes qualified for the regional competition after their strong performances at the Zone Athletics Carnival which was held in Wollongong in December.
All of the athletes who attended did an outstanding job and the club as whole achieved a fantastic result with a total of seven gold, 18 silver, and 13 bronze medals.
The following athletes secured themselves a position at regionals after their success at the zone level,
- Grace Shakeshaft won a bronze medal in the 60m hurdle
- James Murray won a bronze medal in the 100m sprint
- Levi Farrell won a bronze medal in the 100m dash
- Luca Murray won a bronze medal in the triple jump and a silver medal in the long jump
- Jasmine Shakeshaft won a silver medal in the 1500m and a silver medal in the 800m
- Maya Bos-Woods won a silver medal in the high jump, a silver medal in the shotput and a silver medal in the javelin
- Indeah Morris won gold in the 1500m and a gold medal in the 300m
- Ava Jones won silver in the 200m hurdles and a gold medal in the high jump
- Matthew Elliott won gold in the shotput and gold in the javelin
- Ciara Longworth won a bronze medal in the 100m and a silver medal in the 400m
- Caelan Granger won a gold medal in the long jump and a bronze medal in the 100m
- Charlotte Withers won a silver medal in the discus and a silver medal in the long jump
- Ruby Blake won a bronze medal in the 60m hurdles, a bronze medal in the 400m and a bronze medal in the long jump
- Benji Lee-Billinghurst won a silver medal in the long jump and a gold medal in the high jump
- Mathew Arregui won a gold medal in the 100m and a silver medal in the 70m
- Ewan Dimmock won a bronze medal in the discus and a silver medal in the 800m
- Oscar Harris won a silver medal in the 70m and won a silver medal in the 200m
- Jack Rendell won a bronze medal in the discus
The efforts of Bhodi Lee-Billinghurst and Alex Harris were also good enough to qualify them for the regional competition.
Under-7s athletes Pearl Stravoskoufis, who won a bronze medal in the 200m and a silver medal in the long jump , and Kallan Rendell, who won a silver medal in the 50m, a silver medal in the 70m and a bronze medal in the shotput, performed very well at the zone competition but unfortunately did not qualify for the Regional competition.
The Bowral Little Athletics club has produced some very talented young athletes and committee members said they were proud of the children’s achievements.

Children ranging in age from 5-17 compete in sprinting, distance running, long jump, triple jump, high jump, discus, shot put and javelin in a fun, supportive environment and the results speak for themselves. Bowral Little Athletics Club runs on Friday evenings during summer at Eridge Park in Bowral. Little Athletics places an emphasis is on fun, participation, performance, technique and getting involved with your family in physical and healthy activity. Little Athletics recognises that children vary widely in shape, size and athletic ability, and is thus one of few sports that successfully caters for them all.
