A group of renewable energy campaigners has teamed up to take the stress and confusion out of converting to solar energy.
Passionate locals Andy Lemann and Miles Lochhead and SunCrowd CEO Chris Cooper will be at their first Southern Highlands energy event to provide straightforward information about solar energy options from 6pm at Mittagong RSL. “We’ve built a process where people can get the information they seek without feeling like they’re being pushed into something,” Mr Cooper said.
Residents in Southern NSW continue to jump on board to the bulk buy campaign for solar and batteries, that covers five regions in the state including the Highlands. SunCrowd gives back to the community with a share model that provides a portion of money generated through community bulk buys to the local community groups it partners with. Locally, Climate Action Now Wingecarribee (CANWin) and Moss Vale Community Gardens will benefit from the project’s roll out.
CANWin organiser Miles Lochhead said now was a great time for Highlanders to make a move to solar energy. “People who choose to buy a system will benefit from the bulk buy and support a local group involved in sustainability,” he said.
Anyone interested in learning more about solar energy or converting to a solar-powered system in the Highlands can attend one of two upcoming community information events. The events will bring together leading suppliers and energy manufacturers, software providers and retailers. A second event will be held at Moss Vale Services Club on November 15, starting at 6pm.
SunCrowd aims to shift power from coal generators and big corporations to communities by community bulk buys. “We’re in the midst of the greatest change in our electricity system since it was built, and now we’re driving it so big corporations will learn to adapt,” Mr Cooper said.
