The grand final was played on September 24 against Manly in Cabramatta.
The Souths won the match 12-6. But Nick’s father Terry Riches said the game was much closer than the score indicated.
“It was very closely contested game. Manly were coming at us all the time, we had three opportunities to get over the line but we couldn’t get there,” he said.
Terry said Nick had a great game on the wing.
“Nick is one of the fastest on the team so they had all the big boys on him, but he did a great job for the team.”
The decider was Nick’s last game with the Souths, he will play with the West Tigers in the upcoming season.
“After five years with the Souths Nick was looking at new opportunities. He is very excited to start training with the West Tigers,” Terry said.
Nick has also been selected to play in the inaugural Country v Country Disabled Rugby League game against New Zealand in 2017.
