Under 9s – Step-in coaches Paul Hilliard and Jason Eagan
A deferred game from round 11 was re-scheduled for August 21.
However, Southern’s under-9s did not disappoint.
This round took the team off to Hensley Park to face Hakoa Sydney City East FC.
The under-9s were determined to finish on a high.
The synthetic turf isn’t something Southern kids are used to.
But it was a buzz for the kids to play in such a great stadium.
The spirit shone through in these under-9s as they shut Hakoa down with a 4-1 score line, ending the season on a win.
Rohan Day scored the first goal in the first half but didn’t stop there.
He found the back of the net a second time in the second half.
Allesondro Brisa also scored two goals.
Each child played well and it was a great way to finish the season.
Under 10s – Craig Ash
The under-10s put in another dominate performance.
Rowan Davies and Jimmy Smith mixed it up a little for the last game of the season and were consistent in goal.
Oscar Lambie, Joshe Stone and Kynan Denford controlled the midfield with Oscar taking another fine goal.
Bayley Cash and George Lewis again did their work professionally at the back and Freddie Ash and Aaron Hage again caused all sort of problems up front.
Aaron Hage scored another cracking goal for the second week in a row.
This game was an amazing game of football to watch.
Well done this year boys you've proved to be a quite complete team and very enjoyable to watch.
Under 11s – Chris Cash
From the kick off, Southern under-11s were determined to win this one again Hakoa.
But it seems this wasn’t the case in Hakoa’s eyes.
With regular goalkeeper Spencer Lewis away, Southern relied on the talents of Aaron Hage and Bayley Cash to fill this void.
Hakoa struck and the ball found the back of the net a few times, which left the kids a little deflated.
A few niggling injuries took their toll, but the kids powered on.
Ball movement was fantastic, however strong goalkeeping from Hakoa frustrated Southern’s hard working forwards.
It wasn’t through lack of trying but it seemed the extra game tacked onto the end of the season had other plans for the under-11s.
Cash said he was very proud of all players for the hard work they put in this year.
“It has been a pleasure to coach you and watch you all work hard and grow as players and people,” he said.
Under 12s – Karl Bathson
Sunday's game was sheer joy to watch and a real celebration of children's growth as footballers.
Their movement was as elegant as any dance production.
The delivery of the ball was crisp sharp and on target.
The way they switched from a short game to a long game was effortless.
The five goals scored were quality team football and differed in the manner that were scored.
Every footballer stepped up on Sunday.
It was a memorable game to finish the season.
