The Shapeshifters: 3D Printing the Future exhibition features designers and makers from across Australia and has been produced by the Australian Design Centre.
Sturt Craft and Design Centre is one of nine destinations for the exhibits' nation-wide tour, making this a must-see for the region.
Sturt director Mark Viner said the exhibition included sculpture, medical uses, furniture, textiles, fashion and jewellery all created because of 3D printing technology.
"It encourages artists to explore how to tap into the new world of technology," he said.
"There's still so much mystery that surrounds 3D printing [and] it is becoming more mainstream."
Open source software and the interactive nature of the exhibit will allow visitors to see 3D printing in action.
Students and schools are particularly encouraged to visit this innovative exhibition.
"This exhibit is an educational tool to understand 3D printing," Mr Viner said.
The exhibit opens July 31 at 11.00am, and runs until September 18.
A special workshop focused on 3D printing technology education will be held by UNSW Art and Design senior lecturer Rod Bamford August 13 and 14.
