IT has been a big week for the Southern Branch Football Club.
On Sunday, Southern's Highlands Skills Acquisition Program (SAP) players returned to Bundanoon's Ferndale Reserve.
The branch's under-11s and under-12s teams took on Eastern Suburbs in two exciting matches.
The action continued for Southern players on Monday night.
Chelsea Football Club academy coach Frank O'Brien worked with the Highlands SAP squads at Stephens Park, Bowral.
O'Brien put the players through their paces in an one-and-a-half hour training session.
The kids learnt drills that are used by elite football clubs.
The children listened intently when O'Brien gave them advice, encouragement or explain a new drill.
O'Brien trained the four Highlands SAP squads in two time slots.
The first session was with the club's under-9s and under-10s.
The second was with the under-11s and under-12s squads.
Both sessions ended in a game of mixed teams.
O'Brien has coached at English Premier League club Chelsea since 1996.
It was an amazing opportunity for all Highlands SAP players.
Despite the windy freezing cold conditions, nothing could wipe the smiles from the faces of the kids.
On behalf of the Highlands SAP community, the club thanks Frank O'Brien for his sessions.
Southern players learnt a lot and enjoyed the event.
The session was organised by South West Football Sessions.
