David Doig Chalmers, 73, of Penrose Rd, Bundanoon, was sentenced on charges of indecent assault of a person under 16 years of age.
He was also sentenced on three counts of possessing child abuse material when he appeared in the dock of Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday, May 18.
He had been convicted at an earlier hearing.
On Wednesday, Magistrate Carolyn Huntsman read out case particulars in open court.
She said the first charge related to Chalmers' indecent assault of a four-year-old girl who he had been babysitting on August 16, 2014.
Ms Huntsman said the charge related to Chalmers "touching inside the underwear of the child, but not the removal of clothes".
The remaining charges related to possession of child abuse material: one being a photograph of a naked child; the second of a digital image found on Chalmers' computer depicting sexual acts on a child; and the third of a DVD depicting several naked children.
The materials were located during a search of Chalmers' house on March 31, 2015.
For the charge of indecent assault, Ms Huntsman sentenced Chalmers to two years imprisonment with a non-parole period of 18 months.
On the first, second and third charges of possessing child abuse material, she sentenced Chalmers to a further, cumulative prison sentence of six, 24 and 16 months respectively, with a non-parole period of 12 months for the latter charge.
