THE Bowral Blacks fought hard against Shoalhaven on Saturday but fell 20-5.
Bowral had won its previous Illawarra Rugby Competition first grade match and was full of confidence.
In a frustrating game where both teams were carded twice, no-one walked away from the experience feeling pleased.
Bowral had the majority of possession, field position and dominated the scrums.
Shoalhaven exploited managed to pilfer a number of Bowral rucks.
These stolen balls were quickly moved wide for them to score against the run of play.
Bowral looked the better team with scrums, lineouts and structure being superior, yet were beaten on the scoreboard.
The big picture is positive as Bowral continues to build for the second half of the season.
Bowral's player points went to Cam Madden (three), Ben Lewis (two) and Carlos Rahme (one).
