STRONG performances by Tom Keft, Steven Baines and Aaron de Jager guided Robertson to victory on Friday night.
Keft, Baines and de Jager all impressed as the Spuds second division side sealed a 24-16 win over Bundanoon Highlanders.
The match was held in cool and wet conditions at the Robertson Showground.
Keft was named man of the match after he asked to play in several positions, including centre and lock.
Hooker Baines scored two tries and five-eighth de Jager worked hard as Robertson started its Group 6 campaign on the right note.
Spuds club president Doug Tilley said other standouts included props Matt Rolles and Damien McMillan, centre Joel Baines and winger James Temporili.
Tilley said it was a good contest between the rival teams.
"It was an awesome win," he said.
"We were a bit sloppy and dropped a lot of ball in the wet.
"It was a great crowd, but it would have been a little better if the weather was better."
Bundanoon coach Brian Martin remained upbeat despite the result.
Martin said his team played well, but was hampered by handling errors and "crucial calls by officials".
He said Bundanoon's best players were forwards Chris and Mitch Conquest, Jarrod Woodgate and Paul Quigg.
"I'm very happy with the effort the boys put in, particularly the forwards, in trying conditions," Martin said.
"We made basic mistakes which cost us and some crucial calls by officials put us under a lot of pressure."
Bundanoon will look to bounce back when it faces Narellan this weekend.
Robertson has the bye.
