When designing the trip, Highlands local Sue selected countries that would allow her to explore her passion for photography.
"When I created my itinerary, a lot of thought and research went into it," she said.
"I had to decide on the season, as the weather in the arctic can be quite serious, and I knew I wanted to photograph the aurora borealis (which is the Northern Lights)."
Sue said the phenomenon was a unique, once in a lifetime experience.
"It was honestly magical and having had the benefit of being able to capture it, now I can look at the images and it brings it all back to me."
Sue likes wild and remote locations, and travelled to Norway and Iceland on her most recent escapade.
"It took me two years to put the trip together and I decided to go when it was autumn in the north as it was a great cross over of seasons."
Sue has always had a keen interest in photography, but after five years of honing her skills and her craft, she now feels like she has something to offer as an artist.
I like to create an artistic impression and I use a range of techniques for different effects."
"I use long exposures, reflections and I try to capture light in a particular way and use light as an element in my photographs."
Sue said she always photographs for the passion and enjoys the time alone to capture the stunning sights she has seen.
"The idea to exhibit the images didn't come until I got back."
"My goal is just to capture the natural beauty of things."
Sue's exhibition is titled 'My Arctic Adventure' and will be shown at Ten Thousand Paces Gallery in Springetts Arcade, Bowral until February 20.
The local exhibition is Sue's first and begins Saturday, January 31 with an official opening at 2pm.
