IT WAS a case of an unlikely combination tasting success on Saturday at Bundanoon Tennis Club.
Two social players with very different backgrounds in the sport teamed up for victory.
The club's oldest player Ted Anderson, 85, was joined by 13-year-old Daniel Wilie.
The mix of experience and youth worked well, with Anderson and Wilie recording a 7-1 win over Dawn Davies and Patty O'Connor.
Anderson praised his teammate for the win.
"He goes well," he said.
Anderson first took up tennis at 14 and has maintained a passion for the game over the years. He moved to the Highlands nearly six decades ago, but didn't initially start playing tennis again.
Anderson was a member of Bowral Tennis Club for 20 years.
He switched to Bundanoon more than seven years ago and plays at the club on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Anderson tasted success in the recent club championships at Bundanoon.
He breezed through the preliminary games, reaching the final in both the mixed B grade and men's B grade doubles categories.
"Unfortunately, I lost both," Anderson said with a smile.
