With picnic baskets in one hand and hats in another, the Bong Bong Picnic Races has been a long standing community tradition in the Highlands.
While the alcohol restrictions are slightly stricter this year, event-goers should still remain alcohol smart.
There have been times where the major event of the day, the Bong Bong Cup, has been blindsided by the clinking of glasses and swirling of alcohol.
While there have been alcohol related issues in the past, local police want to see the event continue, but in a safer and more controlled manner.
Race-goers today will be restricted to purchasing one bottle of wine or two mid-strength beers at any one time. Wine bottles pre-purchased by marquee holders are to be kept within the allocated area of the marquee.
While celebrations and a drink with mates are all part of the day, it is wise to remember the grounds are not a nightclub and it shouldn't be the alcohol which takes over the event.
A recent Southern Highland News poll asked whether people thought there should be stricter alcohol restrictions in place at the races and the majority (52.78 per cent) of respondents thought more stringent restrictions were needed.
It should be noted a fun time can be had without alcohol.
A celebratory drink or two is a great way to celebrate the race which does stop the Highlands, but it's important to know one's limits.
The event has previously shut down for several years and was re-opened under a stricter structure - it would be disappointing to see the same thing happen again.
