The Australian crime novelist was special guest at the latest Supper Club event on Tuesday night.
More than 90 Highlanders braved the poor weather to hear Mr Robotham speak at Centennial Vineyards Restaurant.
He was in town to promote his newly released book, Life and Death.
It was the second time that Mr Robotham had spoken at the Supper Club, after he made an appearance in 2010.
Mr Robotham said he loved returning to Bowral.
"It's a brilliant location, a vibrant town - it's culturally great here," he said.
"Bowral is one of the great destinations."
Mr Robotham said he was a big supporter of the Supper Club initiative.
"It's a wonderful thing," he said.
"It's worth writers coming out to places like this."
Mr Robotham is best known for his Joseph O'Loghlin series of crime novels.
He said Life and Death was a standalone book, away from the series.
Mr Robotham said the new release was his 10th novel and had reached number five on the best sellers list.
"That's the highest I've been, I think my next best was sixth," he said.
Mr Robotham said his books had been released across the world, which were translated into 22 languages.
However, he said it was important to taste success in Australia.
"Australia is home, it's more important for me to do well here."
