"It was a very disappointing win," he said.
The Lions claimed a 30-26 victory over Campbelltown City Kangaroos but after leading 26-6 Borg said it was not good enough his side was almost run down.
Still without Borg and Troy Martin, the Lions suffered an early blow when Warwick Carter left the field in the first 15 minutes with a knee injury.
"I think the attitude at the start of the game was a bit poor. We kept dropping the ball and gave away too many penalties. We were lucky to win.
"It was still a positive to play poorly and come away with the two points."
Despite a sub par performance, Mittagong remains on top of the table and Borg said the Lions had yet to play their best football.
Borg said Matt Thorpe was good in defence while Mark Delamont stood out in attack.
Mittagong's next challenge will be Thirlmere which has only played one game against Picton in a close contest.
With a week's break before the match Borg said he hoped all three injured players would return to the field against Thirlmere.
Jack Payne and Josh Bergamin should also be back for the club from representative duty.
Borg said he wanted better discipline from Mittagong in the next match after the Lions lost the penalty count 8-1 in the second half. "We need to stay switched on. It seems to be a habit from last year that we start strong and then drop off."
Mittagong will have a few more away games before returning to Mittagong Sportsground.
"Hopefully the weather stays good and we can get a bit of consistency.
"We've got two more away games and then we head back home which we look forward to."
