Brian Napper, of Maryborough, Queensland, had a charge of aggravated indecent assault added in Moss Vale Local Court yesterday.
Napper is already facing two charges of sexual assault for allegedly attacking one boy at a cadet camp and another in the boy’s own bedroom.
The third boy, 15 at the time, was allegedly assaulted by Napper from June to September 1991 at the 63-year-old’s Moss Vale home, police said.
It was alleged Napper rubbed the boy’s penis on the outside of his clothes at his home.
The first two charges relate to alleged attacks in March 1983 and October 1989.
The case has rocked the community. The school teaches more than an 1100 children each year.
Bowral detectives have received numerous phone calls about the case, but so far no one other than the third alleged victim has come forward with allegations.
Napper taught at Chevalier from 1978-92 and retired last year after teaching for several years at Mittagong Public School. He applied to be a relief teacher with the Department of Education and Training (DET), but the application was rejected.
He had also taught at schools in Tangmangaroo, north of Yass, and Coonamble, north of Dubbo.
In December last year, Shoalhaven Detectives had visited Napper’s home only to find he had sold the property and moved to Queensland.
Detectives flew to Queensland on May 25 to interview Napper and issue him with a court attendance notice. He first appeared at Moss Vale court on July 5.
Shoalhaven detectives originally handled the investigation, but Bowral police were now heading the investigation. Strikeforce Alpugi has been formed, made up of Nowra and Bowral detectives.
“Strike Force Alpugi has renewed an appeal for anyone who believes they may have been victims of similar incidents, particularly if they attended schools in the Tangmangaroo, Coonamble and Mittagong areas, to come forward,” a police statement said.
The case was adjourned until November 2.
Meanwhile, another man living in Queensland charged over the alleged rape of a teenage boy almost two years ago was in court yesterday.
Mark Middleton, of Warwick, Queensland, is charged with sexual intercourse without consent over the alleged rape of a boy, 17, at his Patuna Avenue home in Moss Vale on September 4, 2008, Bowral Police said.
Middleton, was excused from appearing yesterday. The case was adjourned until October 19
Police would allege Middleton was the boy’s former neighbour and he had forced himself on the boy after letting him stay with him because the teenager had nowhere else to stay.
Sexual intercourse without consent carries a maximum sentence of 14 years.
Bowral Police said anyone with information should contact them on 4862 9299.
