A big crowd is expected at Moss Vale Basketball stadium and the Magic players have promised to give it their all in a bid to make the finals.
It’s a massive weekend for the Magic. They are at home again on Sunday and two wins could take them as high as third on the competition ladder.
Moss Vale have been unlucky in a number of close matches this season where they have led for most of their games only to go down by between two and six points.
Their win loss record is disappointing (3-7) but could have very easily read seven wins and three losses.
But there is no point looking back and all attention is on Saturday’s 5pm match.
The Magic’s last match was three weeks ago when they were beaten 82-68 by Griffith.
Coach Kevin Campbell was pleased with his team’s effort in that match, particularly the form of centre “Stormin’” Norman Taylor who scored a game and season high 27 points.
The Heat are coming off a 30-point hiding, also at the hands of Griffith, last weekend 92-62, although it must be said that Wagga were missing the services of their big centre Aaron Arthur which weakened their team considerably.
It is expected that Arthur will line up against his nemesis Taylor tomorrow in what should prove to be a vital match up.
Should the Magic win tomorrow night against Wagga, they will seal a place in the division two finals and turn their attention to the local derby against Shoalhaven on Sunday at 12pm.
The Tigers have plenty to play for in the derby. A win would see them make the division one finals while a loss could see them fall behind Moss Vale on the ladder.
Shoalhaven are probably the form team in Pool B having beaten Moss Vale, Wagga and Griffith on the road this year and almost toppling league leaders Queanbeyan last weekend.
Moss Vale’s players hope all Highlands basketball and sports fans can head to Moss Vale Basketball Stadium and cheer on the Magic in their all-important clashes.
Magic promotions will be running at both games, including the chance to win a $250 bank account, “the best seat in the house” draw and of course Matilda the ANZ Piggy Bank will be there handing out goodies to all the kids.
