And to those who might still have some lingering doubts that bowls is still an old mans game, the national lawn bowling singles championship of America was won by Fred Chaplin of New York at 16 years of age. Played at Boston in 1934. Chaplin beat Bob Ssavage of Chicago 15-12. The 1936 English championship was won by G. D. Goodson at 32 years of age, and the runner up A. W. Knowing was 24.
