In a very keen and competitive match, in the B grade water polo, on Monday evening, Horton's Heroes edged out Oxley Gold 5-4.

Oxley put in a very impressive first quarter, as they took a two goal lead heading into the first break and surprising the Heroes. Hamish Barber scored both goals for Oxley.
The Heroes pulled one back in the quarter outscoring Oxley Gold 2-1 but still trailed 2-3 at halftime. Horton's Heroes came out firing in the third period, as they posted three goals to Oxley's solitary effort. Trailing 4-5 Oxley tried valiantly to bridge the gap, as the ball flowed from one end of the pool to the other.
Both goalkeepers were on their game blocking numerous shots. Horton's goalkeeper Craig Ford was tested and the spectators were on the edge of their seats when Oxley were awarded a penalty shot with 45 seconds left on the clock.
Ford pulled off a great save to secure Horton's win. A draw would have been a fair result but last season's competition's premiers, Horton's Heroes were relieved to take the win.
Smugglers stole a win over Dolphins B, 3-1. It took more than the whole of the first quarter for either team to establish a lead with the scores locked at 0-0.
Smugglers posted two unanswered goals in the second quarter to lead 2-0 at halftime. Both teams tried hard in the third quarter but were unable to break the defence. A goal each in the final period saw the final 3-1 score line.
Polar Bears B had an easier task with a 10-4 win over Oxley Blue. The first quarter was tight with the Polar Bears scoring the solitary goal of the period.
The Bears stepped up the pressure in the second quarter scoring three goals. They repeated this pattern in each of the second half periods, to build their ten goals.
Oxley Blue rallied in the final period to score three goals themselves for the final 10-4 score line.
In A grade Sharks kept up their good form with a 10-5 win over Horton's Heroes.
The game was locked at 1-1 at the end of the first quarter but that was as close as it got for the Horton's Heroes.
Sharks went into a frenzy in the second quarter taking it 5-0, to set up a very comfortable 6-1 halftime lead. Horton's Heroes staged a comeback in the third quarter to take it 3-1 and close the margin to 7-4.
The Sharks weren't about to let the match get away, as they came back to take the final period 3-1 for the final 10-5 victory.
The Polar Bears A met Dolphins on the wrong night as they went down 8-3. The Polar Bears had plenty of shots but Dolphin's goal keeper, Colin Hutchison had one of his best games.
Polar Bears held Dolphins to 4-2 at halftime but the 4-1 second half sealed the match for Dolphins 8-3.
The ladies game, which is proving very popular, resulted in a 3-3 draw. The teams play a social game which is fun and sees the ladies displaying some great skills.
