In the A grade water polo competition on October 28 at the Frensham Pool, Sharks 13 defeated Horton's Heroes 5. Horton's Heroes were under strength and Sharks took advantage of the situation. It is very hard to overcome a numbers disadvantage. The Sharks bounced out to a 4-0 first quarter lead and never looked in doubt. The second quarter saw Horton's Heroes post two goals but Sharks had put in another three to lead 7-2 at half time. The second half began well for Horton's Heroes, as they took the period 3-2, amazing given the circumstances. Sharks came out in the last period to put in four unanswered goals for the final 13-5 score.

In the second A grade game the Dolphins 11 defeated Polar Bears 5. Again the first quarter set up the Dolphin's win, as they posted two unanswered goals. Three more goals in the second period, to the Polar Bears solitary goal, gave the Dolphins a very safe 5 -1 halftime lead. The Bears did well to score two goals in each of the second half quarters but Dolphins managed three in the final quarter for the final 11-5 score line.
In B grade Oxley Gold 8 defeated Polar Fins 6. In the closest game of the evening, Oxley Gold proved too good for the Polar Fins. The first half saw Oxley Gold take a 2-1 lead at the end of the first quarter. The Polar Fins fought back to take the second period 3-2 for the scores to be all locked up at 4-4 at half time. Oxley Gold pinched the match in the third period with a 3-1 burst. The final period was a goal each for the 8-6 final score.
Horton's Heroes 8 defeated Oxley Blue 3. Horton's Heroes were able to build a winning score consistently through the game. Oxley Blue played very well to make Horton's Heroes work for every goal and were unlucky not to score on several occasions, where only good goal keeping and bad luck kept the ball out of the net. The score line at half time was only 3-2 but an unanswered three goal burst in the third period was a winning break for Horton's Heroes. A 2-1 final period sealed the match with a final 8-3 score line.
The Ladies Game, which is competitive but not a competition, has proved to be very popular. Both teams displayed good skills with Best and Fairest points being awarded Merrilynne Wilson (3), Lauren Cameron (2) and Hannah Pinkerton (1). New players in all grades are welcome with details available on the Southern Highlands water polo website.
