After a break to freshen up they then took on a strong Campbelltown City outfit. The girls again showed the attitude and desire already runs strong for this new club with an outstanding performance to take out the win 16 - 8. Tries to Hannah Whatman, Tessa Good and Giovanna Alvarez.
By the end, everyone was exhausted from the very up tempo matches and playing with only one on the interchange bench, but spirits were high after showing so much in the Storms first hit out.
The team are expecting five teammates who missed the first week of games to return for the rest of the Tournament to hopefully make themselves even stronger.
Tessa Good, Tara McGrath-West and Haylee Roy were very energetic all day and set the tone for the girls.
Emily Bindley and Hannah Whatman led the way through the middle and took the tough carries as they were required.
Keira Rundback was dangerous around the ruck all day and Courtney Picker controlled the troops well, guiding the team around the park and continually come up with the right plays.
Club secretary and FAO for the team said "Given the new identity and faces in the team it was amazing how controlled and cool they were.
"It was a performance of a team you would expect late in the season from a team rather than one who has just formed and had very limited time to train together. The future looks bright for this team if they can stick together."
The Storms director of football, Mark Williams, had nothing but praise for the girls and the club
"To get off to such a great start for the club was always going to be so important and these performances only reinforce we are on the right track," Williams said.
"These girls showed exactly what it is about to play for the Storm. Hopefully both this team, and the rest of the club can build on this first day of footy and set this new club up for a much brighter future for Rugby League in the Southern Highlands."
