Oxley College teacher Meaghan Stanton has successfully defended her national titles in the 2020 National Mountain Bike Cross Country and Downhill Championships.

The championships were held in Bright, Victoria and consisted of the main Cross Country Olympic format event (XCO) which is a highly technical course with difficult obstacles, steep climbs and descents, the Cross country Criterium (XCC) which is a sprint format with multiple laps on a short flat track and the Bright Downhill course.
Meaghan Stanton, who rides for Trek Shimano Australia, successfully defended her National Titles in XCO and XCC with two gold medals in the women's Masters four age group, also taking first (XCC) and second (XCO) out of all the masters categories.
The Southern Highlands was well represented with Karen Evans, from Moss Vale, claiming silver XCO and XCC medals in women's Masters five.
Luke Skelly took silver in the U17 men's XCC, Maizy Evans was fourth in U17 women's XCC and Harrison Johnston came 18th in U17 men's XCC and 27th in XCO.
George Dummer raced his first National Championship event in U17 men's Downhill, finishing 24th in a strong field of 53 riders.
Peter Dowse, mechanic at The Fixed Wheel, Bowral, also had a very successful weekend in his role as manager of Trek Shimano Australia, supporting his team riders who picked up seven gold, two silver, and three bronze medals.
