A representative side for Highlands Soccer Association, Highlands FC is on the hunt for talented and committed footballers to represent the association in the Football South Coast Youth League.
Technical director Nick D'Amore has been with Highland FC since its inception in 2009 and has seen the club go from strength to strength as well as change over the past 10 years.
"Highlands FC is a higher grade than local clubs so we offer that to everyone who plays in the Highlands Soccer Association," he said.
"We play in Illawarra [competition] and it's a weekly competition. We also look at other competitions that we can play in. Next year we will go down to Canberra and play in the Kanga Cup."
For the club, it's not about the trophies at the end of the season, it's about player development and player opportunity.
"We look at different pathways from where do [players] go from here.
"We're in discussion with Illawarra Sting Rays, the women's side, because they have a representative side as well and we look at partnerships with Wollongong Wolves and South Coast Flames.
"We have trials coming up starting next Thursday.
"It's an open trial so anyone can attend and then we look at hopefully having enough players where can select who we deem as the strongest ones.
"There's a couple of things [that we look for]. We have a club philosophy, there's certain criteria that they would have to meet.
"The first thing we look at is their attitude, their behaviour to other people and then obviously we look at their technical abilities and also their tactical ability. As a technical group we look at if we're able to improve that player over the year."
The club offers different workshops through out the year for coach education, video analysis where players will watch and analyse their game, individual development plans and parent education.
Trials for u13, u14, u15, u16 boys will commence on November 7, 12 and 14 at the David Woods Players Fields at Boardman Road, East Bowral between 5:30 pm - 7 pm. For further information contact Nick D'AmoreTechnical Director 0407 917 062 or dir.coach@hsa.org.au.
