Southern Highlands residents will need to be careful that the eight-legged creature doesn't scurry under their beds at night.
The Salvage Spider, a 17kg giant Orb Weaving Spider, is a new addition to the centre.
The sculpture is constructed entirely from materials destined for landfill.
Discarded soft toys and industrial off-cuts were used to construct the work.
Over 200 metres of web was hand-spun using teddy bear innards and their fur was used for the body of the spider.
Giant Orb Weaving Spiders are known to consume their webs and reuse the proteins to spin a new one.
The sculpture embodies the message to recycle, reduce and reuse.
The giant spider was made by Byronny Anderson from One Off Makery and has been gifted to the visitor centre.
The sculpture will be on display from March 29 to November 30.
