The Dolphins were too strong for a second placed Sharks team on Monday, with the Sharks unable to put the bite on their opposition in a 7-5 loss.

The Dolphins came out fast and strong, scoring three goals to the Sharks solitary goal in the first quarter.
The Sharks battled hard and came back in the second period with two goals to the Dolphins one.
The halftime score of 4-3 to Dolphins and gave Sharks hope they could strike quickly and take the Dolphins down.
It wasn’t to be and despite a great effort from the Sharks, the Dolphins managed two goals to the Sharks’ one, to establish a two goal buffer going into the last quarter.
The Sharks were first to score in the last period and looked dangerous.
They had several shots but were unable to convert them into goals.
The Dolphins held their composure and with a minute left on the clock they scored again to take the match out of the danger zone scoring a solid 7-5 win.
After putting together a number of strong performances recently, the Polar Bears were brought back to earth, by the Mariners when they went down 6-0 .
The Polar Bears were never really in this match.
It was a full strength Mariners side, who were far more organised than they had been so far this season.
Mariners led 1-0 at the end of the first period but they put the seal on the match with a very strong second period, where they scored three goals and again kept the Polar Bears scoreless.
The number of exclusions didn’t help the Polar Bears, as Mariners converted their chances when up a player.
A 4-0 halftime scoreline was a big break on Polar Bears.
The ability to find the net was lacking from a Polar Bears team that had been scoring well in recent games but this week they were unable to convert their chances.
The Mariners’ defence held tight in the second half and they managed a goal in each of the last two periods for the 6-0 win.

The B grade competition was back to full strength this week.
Horton’s Heroes got back on the winner’s list with a 4-2 win over Polar Bears B.
Horton’s Heroes took the first quarter 2-1, with a long range goal from halfway in the dying seconds giving them the edge.
Not too many B graders can throw that far let alone score from there and it was the goal they needed.
Horton’s Heroes held Polar Bears to 1-1 in the second quarter for a 3-2 halftime score.
The third period was close at 0-0 with the defence of both sides a key feature of the quarter.
A fourth quarter goal to Horton’s Heroes sealed the match.
Dolphins defeated Oxley Gold 7-3.
The experienced Dolphins were forced to work hard in the first quarter to hold Oxley Gold to 1-1.
Experience was the difference in the second period where Oxley Gold were outscored 3-0 giving the Dolphins a handy 4-1 advantage at halftime.
Oxley Gold came back, showing great character to score two more goals in the second quarter to the Dolphins’ three and to hold Dolphins to 0-0 in the last period of play for the 7-3 result.
Both Oxley teams are showing improvement each week and deserve credit for the way they play the game.
Oxley Blue went down to Mariners 6-3 and while the experienced Mariners side never looked in danger of defeat, the younger Oxley Blue side never gave up and made a real match of it.
Mariners led 2-0 at the end of the first quarter and took their minds off the job as Oxley Blue took the second period 1-0.
With a halftime score 2-1, Mariners came back to take each second half quarter 2-1 for the 6-3 result.
Oxley Blue were very competitive and really tested their opposition.
